Ontario healthcare facility to close cafeteria to 'stem losses'

Brantford General Hospital's cafeteria only operated a few hours a day

Brantford General Hospital, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, will close its cafeteria on April 1 to stem losses, according to an article on the Brantford Expositor. Sparse use has made the cafeteria a perennial money-loser.

The two part-time employees will be moved into the operations of the two Tim Hortons outlets currently operating inside the hospital.

Annual losses connected with operation of the cafeteria had ranged over a number of years from about $20,000 to as much as $100,000.

Beginning April 1, the company will introduce a new cooking process called Steamplicity, involving microwave preparation of pre-packaged meals for patients.
