Orlando healthcare facility's mass casualty drills helped them prepare for shooting

Forty-four victims were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center after nightclub shooting

Leaders from Orlando Health say mass casualty drills helped them prepare for Pulse nightclub shooting that sent 44 victims to the Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC), according to an article on the Health Facility Management website.

ORMC is located a few blocks from the nightclub.

Three months prior to the incident, Orlando Health had conducted a communitywide mass-casualty drill to prepare for such a situation.

"Drill at night. Practice on the weekends, because what comes out of that are lessons and learnings and gaps that are identified that allow you to address them and prepare,” said Mark Jones, president of ORMC.
