Perkins+Will Hires New Healthcare Practice Leader for its Boston Studio

At a time when healthcare institutions are looking for creative and innovative solutions to help simplify systems and reduce costs, Perkins+Will’s Boston studio has hired Ron Gorham as principal and practice leader for the sector. Gorham’s 25-year career in healthcare planning, design and management will help broaden the firm’s already significant industry presence, and expand the firm’s regional expertise nationwide.

Good design drives operational efficiency, keeps patients well and, as a result, allows healthcare systems to be more profitable.

“The increasing complexity of our healthcare system and the way design can improve patient outcomes and efficiencies is only accelerating,” said Robert Brown, managing director of Perkins+Will’s Boston studio. “Ron’s leadership will strengthen our ability to help clients achieve even more, whether it’s for a research, medical education, hospital or tertiary facility. Having him based in Boston, one of the world’s leading medical hubs, will allow us to share our most innovative work with clients everywhere.”

Gorham will join healthcare principal Chuck Siconolfi at the Boston studio of Perkins+Will, where clients include Maine Medical Center, Spaulding Rehabilitation HospitalNemours Children’s Hospital.

“We help clients think strategically about their operations, using design as an economic driver, resiliently and sustainably. Everything we do is backed by data and we work nationally across offices to share ideas and to arrive at new solutions that challenge existing typologies,” Gorham said. “We want to improve the human experience of staff, patients and families. Together, with our clients and their communities, we design buildings that support wellness, health and inspire occupants.”
