The Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, Pa., was awarded LEED Silver certification for a new, sustainable design and construction project that includes the $446-million, 600,000-square-foot Heart Pavilion project.
This plan represents the first and largest LEED Silver-certified healthcare project in the region and the largest on the East Coast, according to an article on the Medical Design & Construction website.
LMC was recognized in six environmental categories, including site planning and design, landscaping, water, energy, materials and resources and indoor environmental quality.
LMC’s sustainability efforts include:
• 1.7 million gallons of water will be saved annually
• 35 percent of the energy used in the Heart Pavilion is offset by renewable energy credits
• 2,600 tons of all construction debris was diverted from landfills
