Queensland public hospital construction progresses

Australia's Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital project completes facilities management center, starts parking structure

Australia's Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital project in Queensland completed its facilities management center, started the parking structure and made progress on the main hospital building in 2014, according to an article on the Caboolture News website.

"The construction site of the Sunshine Coast Public University Hospital will be a hive of activity in 2015 as it reaches its peak workforce and 100 percent procurement by the first quarter of 2015," senior construction manager Mark Plummer said.

The east building reached a major milestone in mid-November, being "topped out" before the main hospital building, which is due to reach structural completion in the second quarter of 2015.

Key milestones for 2015 will include the start of construction for the 50-bed mental health unit. The unit has been designed around safe environment principles that reflect a domestic rather than institutional setting.
