Resident Security Technology Offers Array of Benefits

Video surveillance systems can monitor resident safety and protect facilities from vandalism

By By Dan Hounsell

Resident security is an ongoing concern for facilities managers in senior care communities, and advances in resident security technology give managers access to a range of solutions that can hava applications and benefits in a range of areas, according to iAdvance Senior Care.

For example, video surveillance systems can help monitor resident safety, but they also can protect facilities from vandalism. Managers can use these systems to ensure staff are following proper protocols and residents receive an appropriate quality of care.

In the case of point-of-entry access control systems are essential for memory care units. Credential tracking and permissions, including key cards and pin codes, add an extra level of security, and managers can implement them in both memory care units and in the building’s front and rear access doors to ensure overall building security.
