SMGloba's FastMaint CMMS software for industrial equipment & commercial facility maintenance

SMGlobal has released FastMaint CMMS v. 7, a computerized maintenance management software program for equipment and facilities maintenance. FastMaint CMMS lets maintenance managers schedule both preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance work, send work orders to the maintenance staff on their mobile phones, receive feedback from the maintenance workers, and track the progress of all outstanding and completed jobs. It can be used for on-site maintenance or field service management.

The software has enterprise asset management features to track equipment and facilities, inventory management, and maintain supplier records for ordering spares and equipment. FastMaint automatically schedules maintenance activities based upon dates, meter readings, emergency conditions, or any criteria that the maintenance planner specifies. It's easy to create work order templates for planned maintenance, and to deal with breakdowns and other emergencies. Users can insert pictures, and link their work orders to outside supporting documents.

New features in version 7 include support for non-FastMaint users to submit and update maintenance work requests by email. These requests may be converted to work orders that can be emailed to maintenance personnel. The new version provides a new WYSIWYG report editor that makes it simple to customize reports. The new import function lets users update part prices, inventory quantities, and other data by importing a text file.

FastMaint CMMS is available in four editions, allowing businesses to upgrade the software as their companies grow in size and complexity. The Basic and Standard editions are designed for enterprises with a single user managing the maintenance process.

The Basic and Standard editions support tracking of assets, parts, and vendors. One can send work orders to the maintenance staff via email or SMS text message to their mobile phones, even if they don't use smart phones. The Standard edition also offers purchase order processing.

With the Professional and Web editions, the maintenance people can also update and close work orders by email or text messages from their mobile phones. In addition maintenance administrators can receive & respond to maintenance requests sent by email or text messages.

The Professional and Web editions support multiple users using the system at the same time. It's easy to define user groups, and restrict access to sensitive information to certain groups. The Web edition lets users automatically generate reports and email them to the appropriate people. Users can also submit work requests and check their status using a web browser.

The powerful Statistics report enables management to compare current performance with prior periods. This report makes it simple for managers to see the maintenance backlog, the percent of completed work orders, preventative maintenance vs. breakdown maintenance, total equipment downtime, and other critical information.

A single-user license for the Standard edition costs $995(US). The Professional and Web editions have prices that start at $2,495(US). The Basic, Standard, and Professional editions run on Windows XP/Vista/7/8 and 8.1/2008/2012.

The Web edition allows access using a desktop or laptop, the Apple iPad and many Android tablets. It requires a web browser such as Internet Explorer 8+ or an HTML 5 compliant browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox and Apple Safari.
