Schneider Electric announces enhanced power monitoring software for healthcare

By Healthcare Facilities Today

LAVERGNE, Tenn. –Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today announced a new addition to the StruxureWare software suite with the launch of StruxureWare Power Monitoring Expert Healthcare Edition. The new, intelligent software is designed to ensure reliable, efficient, and secure power distribution infrastructure in healthcare environments.

StruxureWare Power Monitoring Expert Healthcare Edition is designed to help decrease the number of unplanned power outages, reduce the duration of those that do occur, improve the effectiveness of maintenance activities, optimize power loading of key equipment, improve energy efficiency, and reinforce patient safety through a centralized operating ward alarm system. The software provides dashboards and reports for energy and facility managers to identify energy savings opportunities. Integration with the Emergency Power Supply System Test (EPSS) module provides automated documentation for compliance reporting required by healthcare facilities.

“Our solution is targeted towards the distinctive problems faced by healthcare facility personnel in managing their power and energy infrastructure. We focus on increasing service continuity, which is especially important for sensitive medical loads. This software significantly improves the effectiveness of facility preventive maintenance programs, reducing the risk of outages and increasing patient safety by minimizing potential complications from power failure,” said Ram Kaushik, offer manager, Schneider Electric

StruxureWare Power Monitoring Expert Healthcare Edition actively monitors and analyzes mission critical electrical power distribution infrastructure, including MV, LV, and operating room and intensive care unit power, reducing recovery time in case of outage. Its centralized alarm engine alerts maintenance personnel in real time, so they can pinpoint and troubleshoot issues quickly, helping prevent overload, overheating or other power quality scenarios within the power system thus increasing patient safety. Reporting features deliver insights on various parts of the system, including capacity, battery health, and fuel monitoring, helping to maximize generator performance that is vital to 24x7 healthcare operations. In addition, the solution delivers direct interface with the electrical distribution system in operating rooms, allows maintenance personnel to troubleshoot alarms remotely.

“StruxureWare Power Monitoring Expert Healthcare Edition connects seamlessly to electrical assets, providing a communicating layer of intelligence across the energy enterprise. Blending features targeted towards both energy optimization and power reliability really helps healthcare facilities meet financial and operational goals,” Kaushik added.
