Schneider Electric announces portfolio of new open compute products and resources

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management and automation, today showcased at the Open Compute U.S. 2016 Summit new solutions and resources aimed at making Open Compute more attainable for data center managers. The portfolio includes an Open Rack V2, available preassembled or as a flat pack for ease of stocking and shipping, as well as concept designs for a high density, high efficiency Power Supply Unit (PSU) and Battery Backup Unit (BBU).

“The Open Compute Project has been successful in bringing industry leaders together to collaborate on IT designs for large scale data centers,” said Kevin Brown, vice president, Global Data Center Strategy & Technology, Schneider Electric. “Schneider Electric’s new solutions, along with our reference design, underscore our commitment to supporting Open Compute-style architectures and making Open Compute more achievable for customers. By arming data center managers with an end-to-end Open Compute data center architecture, including the physical and IT infrastructure, we can help them better visualize their final design.”

Additional resources announced at the show include:

Reference designs covering Open Compute racks, BBU, PSU, and the complete power and cooling infrastructure from the utility to the server.

Whitepapers providing analysis of the data center architectures supporting Open Compute designs as well as a direct comparison of Open Compute PSU with traditional power supply units.

Trade-off Tool which allows users to input their own data to more fully understand the CapEx implications of Open Compute versus traditional architecture.

Schneider Electric also provides global support services for planning, design, deployment and maintenance. Customers seeking to deploy Open Compute architectures can work with an expert team of solution architects experienced with large scale power and cooling system projects for Open Compute-style data centers.
