Seaman Corporation completes installation of top finish line

WOOSTER, Ohio – In its continued effort to maintain global leadership in the manufacturing of high-performance coated fabrics, Seaman Corporation is proud to announce the installation of a new top finish/coating line at its Wooster, Ohio facility. This new top finish line  has the ability to coat up to 122”, allow for registered printing of patterns, apply three different coatings in one pass, and provide a coating thickness from .1 to 1.0 mils (.0001” to .001”).

"The new top finish line gives Seaman Corporation capabilities we’ve never had before," said Frank Bradenburg, Vice President of Research and Development. "We can actually apply a primer, colored middle coat, back and top coats in one pass. This technology puts Seaman Corporation at the head of the industry, and allows us to continue developing new fabric technologies in emerging markets."

The new coating line uses a liquid applied Kynar fluoropolymer top finish to a flexible coated fabric – a capability no other manufacturer has successfully achieved. Kynar by Arkema, Inc., has allowed Seaman to develop revolutionary technologies in the architectural and roofing markets.

Seaman Corporation will produce three premium, top-finished products on its new technology: FiberTite® Brite™ Roofing Systems and FiberTite Brite Pattern Roofing Systems – engineered specifically for high-profile roofs – and Shelter-Rite® Brite Architectural Fabrics. Each industrial fabric boasts long-lasting color, superior cleanability and unmatched resistance to UV light, punctures, tears, and chemicals.

This new, top finish line is one of three coating lines installed at Seaman Corporation since 2001. Kleinewefers Kunststoffanlagen (or KKA) of Germany was selected to engineer and manufacture the new line. The installation of this line brings the total technology investment at Seaman Corporation to over $40 million since 2000.

Headquartered in Wooster, Ohio, with additional manufacturing in Bristol, Tennessee, Seaman Corporation is known worldwide for the production of high value, high-performance fabrics including FiberTite Roofing Systems, Shelter-Rite Architectural Fabrics, XR®-Geomembranes, Shelter-Lite® Truck Tarps, XR-Mariner® Inflatable Boat Fabrics as well as collapsible fuel tanks and tent materials for military and government applications.
