Solar is being used at more healthcare campuses and is an increasingly popular way of reducing energy costs and, providing a reliable source of backup power, according to an article on the FaciltyCare website.

“The cost of solar has dropped dramatically and the efficiency — or how much it can produce per square foot per area — has increased dramatically,” according to Ryan Park, director of business development for REC Solar

Just installing photovoltaic panels alone isn’t going to create a backup energy source; it’s going to reduce your utility use. For solar to become a backup energy option, it’s necessary to install battery storage.

The relatively high cost of battery storage is beginning to come down, the article said.
