Some healthcare workers not trained on how to clean uniforms in-home

Many healthcare facilities require employees to clean some uniforms at home, but offer no training


Sixty-four percent of healthcare provider organizations require employees to clean some uniforms in their home, but 45 percent receive no training on how to do so properly, according to an article on the Becker's Infection Control & Clinical Quality website.

In facilities that require workers to clean their lab coats, most believe they are four times per week or less, according to research from the Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA).

TRSA surveyed 50 uniform and textile rental decision-makers in the healthcare sector, as well as 700 adult consumers, to gain this insight.

Organizations like the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology in America has suggested that healthcare apparel plays a role in the transmission of disease.
