The CDC's recommendations to clean high-touch areas more frequently did not include operating room surfaces, so researchers identified high-touch areas in the OR, according to a study on the American Journal of Infection Control website.
High-touch OR surfaces included:
• Anesthesia computer mouse
• OR bed
• Nurse computer mouse
• OR door
• Anesthesia medical cart
"It is recommended that an enhanced cleaning protocol be established based on the most frequently touched surfaces in the operating room," the study said.
