Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton Request to Consolidate

The goal is to complete the licensure transition later this year.

By HFT Staff

Michael Curran, chief executive officer of Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton, sent the Pennsylvania Department of Health a request to consolidate operations of the two hospitals under one license. The plan formally joins two histories of caring for the community with distinct campuses providing distinct services.

Moses Taylor will offer obstetrics and senior mental health services, and Regional Hospital will offer medical and surgical care, intensive care and cardiovascular services. One medical executive committee will lead the joined medical staff, and the two boards of trustees will become one.

Aligning facilities and program offerings will continue to support quality care and service to Northeastern Pennsylvania. Members of the board of trustees, medical staff and employees will be engaged in the work to coordinate services and align resources. The goal is to complete the licensure transition later this year.
