LANCASTER, PA — TechLine, the commercial ceiling industry’s first U.S.-based technical assistance service, begins its third decade of providing customer support this month.
Created by Armstrong in 1994 to provide technical assistance to its customers by offering a direct line of communication to Armstrong personnel, the TechLine mission statement today is the same as it was twenty years ago: “To provide timely, reliable, and accessible technical support, education, and solutions to problems so that customers can easily choose, specify, and install Armstrong products.”
Wide Variety of Inquirers
Inquirers who use the service include architects, engineers, interior designers, building owners, facility managers, contractors, distributors, and code officials. In all cases, the TechLine goal is to provide first contact resolution. The service currently answers nearly 1,500 inquiries weekly.
“When TechLine was created, its primary objective was to address specific project-related technical questions in a reliable, quick, and professional manner,” states TechLine Manager Rick Lenhart. “Judging by its continued growth in both staff and the number of inquiries, it is achieving its mission.”
Myriad of Information Provided
A wide range of technical information is provided to support the use of Armstrong products, including fire, seismic, acoustic, load performance, and code compliance information. In addition, Special Item Consultants provide information regarding the availability and ordering of products outside the standard product line.
Other TechLine services include product selection assistance, design assistance, installation assistance, drawings/details, material lists, reverberation and privacy index calculations, guide specifications, LEED® documentation, and test reports on acoustic properties, flame spread, and emissions.
