Telehealth expected to curb healthcare construction

CEO sees the number of hospital stays and surgeries trending down


While the pace of health care construction has picked up considerably in the past year, An Indianapolis healthcare system CEO believes telehealth trends will curb new healthcare construction, according to an article on the Indianapolis Business Journal website.

Bryan Mills, CEO of the Community Health Network hospital system, sees telehealth services enhancing the face-to-face healthcare visits. 

Mills expects the number of hospital stays and surgeries needed per patient trending down. If it does, then hospital systems won’t need to build as many buildings.

Currently, the number of healthcare construction projects has grown as hospital systems have gotten comfortable with the changes coming from the Affordable Care Act, and as the law and an aging population bring more patients into the healthcare system.
