Telemedicine was on the rise before 2020, but the pandemic has accelerated its growth, according to an article on the Healthcare Global website.
Teladoc, for instance, reported a doubling of remote doctor visits to 20,000 a day.
Beyond the pandemic, however, telemedicine may also be a game changer in the future.
Some telemedicine applications are being made possible by new technology, particularly the information from some of the wearable and implanted devices that are now being used to monitor conditions remotely.
Overall, the telemedicine market is expected to grow from over $45 billion in 2019 to $175 billion by 2026, according to a new research report by Global Market Insights.
