Texas Behavioral Hospital Breaks Ground on Expansion

Project will provide Rio Vista Behavioral Health with new two-story, 40-bed unit and outdoor recreation space encompassing 38,000 square feet

Adolfson & Peterson Construction and Acadia Healthcare Co., a provider of behavioral healthcare services across the United States, recently broke ground on a new addition to Rio Vista Behavioral Health Hospital in El Paso, Texas. The project will provide Rio Vista Behavioral Health with a new two-story, 40-bed unit and outdoor recreation space encompassing 38,000 square feet, as well as a new one-story outpatient center with additional parking and flatwork encompassing 14,000 square feet.

Rio Vista Behavioral Health offers comprehensive care for men, women, and children struggling with mental health and substance abuse concerns. The facility provides inpatient services tailored to each patient’s individual needs. The treatment facility recentlylaunched remote services to continue serving patients throughout the pandemic and opened a 20-bed S.T.A.R. Military and Veteran’s Unit to provide customized treatment programs tailored to the needs of active-duty service members, veterans and first responders.

Construction on the expansion project will begin in January 2022 and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2023.

As of June 30, 2021, Acadia operated a network of 229 behavioral healthcare facilities with approximately 10,100 beds in 40 states and Puerto Rico. With more than 20,000 employees serving approximately 70,000 patients daily, Acadia is the largest stand-alone behavioral health company in the United States. Acadia provides behavioral healthcare services to its patients in a variety of settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, specialty treatment facilities, residential treatment centers and outpatient clinics.

Rio Vista Behavioral Health in El Paso, Texas, is a provider of superior clinical services for adolescents ages 11-17 and adults of all genders who have developed mental health disorders and substance use disorders.
