Texas announces $9 million for nursing home infection control projects

Nursing facilities are encouraged to submit applications to the HHSC to receive the funding


Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) announced $9 million in federal funding for nursing facilities to implement infection control projects to protect residents and staff from the spread of COVID-19, according to an article on the Herald Banner website.

Nursing facilities are encouraged to submit applications to the HHSC to receive the funding.

Approved providers will be eligible to receive funds for infection control resources, including:

  • Thermometers and temperature scanning equipment 
  • Decontamination and disinfecting systems
  • Plexiglass barriers or portable walls 
  • N95 fit-test equipment
  • Microbe-resistant flooring and wall coverings
