Trane expanded range of controls enable users to optimize building design and operations

ST. PAUL, Minn.– Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and a brand of Ingersoll Rand, now features new wireless controls and mobile access solutions for building automation systems (BAS)  that enable customers to optimize building design and operations.

Trane now provides two new offerings, the Trane Tracer™ Building Automation System (BAS) Operator Suite mobile app for remote access to the Tracer™ SC System controller and the new Trane Wireless Comm System which replaces typical wired communication lines to facilitate on time, on budget project completion.  This system, which is available now, will also be available as a factory mounted option on Trane heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions starting in June.

“Trane controls and remote access solutions allow users to manage and monitor data wirelessly and on the go – wherever they are,” said Gene Shedivy, controls product leader for Trane. “Users can now operate building systems from virtually anywhere using solutions that provide the technology platform for the next generation of data-driven, technology-enabled services that are creating high performance buildings. Trane Wireless Comm offers increased reliability and performance with no wires.”

The Trane Tracer™ Building Automation System (BAS) Operator Suite mobile app for the Tracer™ SC controller provides peace of mind by allowing users to remotely operate a building’s HVAC system and quickly respond to urgent calls and update requests. The building operator suite further enhances the system’s industry-leading using interface and mobile capabilities.

The Tracer BAS Operator Suite works with the Trane building automation system controller: Tracer SC version 3.6 and higher. The BAS suite is fully integrated with Tracer SC, users simply log in to a tablet or smart phone to view their building’s status. The mobile app enables users to remotely:

    monitor equipment
    make setpoint changes
    view dashboard graphics
    control spaces
    manage alarms

The Tracer BAS Operator Suite mobile app works with iPhone®, iPod touch® and iPad® devices with iOS 5 or 6 and with Android devices. The app is free to download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Trane Wireless Comm significantly simplifies building projects by minimizing the labor, engineering, estimating and project management tasks associated with communication link and zone sensor wiring, and simplifies problem solving on new buildings, controls upgrades and building expansion projects. Trane Wireless Comm leverages the advantages of self-healing wireless mesh technology with an extended signal range and easy installation, reducing the time required to troubleshoot installation when compared to conventional and competitive wireless systems.

Trane Wireless Comm offers adherence to ZigBee® BAS, a global standard for interoperable wireless products, enabling secure and reliable wireless monitoring and control over commercial building systems. Trane Wireless Comm is the industry’s first to run BACnet® protocol on top of ZigBee BAS and to be ZigBee Certified.  Trane Wireless Comm provides double the signal range of other typical wireless building automation communication systems. This means increased reliability, simplified systems design and minimized use of repeaters.
