U.K. healthcare facility to generate its own power with windmill

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, Norfolk, will generate renewable electricity on-site


The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn, Norfolk, U.K., will generate renewable electricity on-site with a wind turbine, according to an article on the edie website.

The new windmill will generate 1.2GWhs of green electricity each year, the equivalent of around 300 homes' worth of power.

The hospital is expected to save nearly 500 tons of CO2 a year and reduce its energy bills.

Local residents will also benefit from the turbine through an 1,000-pound community fund, available for each year of the windmill’s operation.
