UK man dies after being trapped in hospital doors

Inquest will review the death of an elderly man who was trapped in the revolving doors at South Tyneside District Hospital

A safety probe was launched at South Tyneside District Hospital in South Shields, England, to look into the death of an elderly man who was trapped in the facility's revolving doors, according to an article on the Shields Gazette website.

The man had been at the site for a routine appointment before he became trapped in the doors at the hospital’s outpatient department, fell and broke his hip, the article said.

The door has been upgraded beyond national safety standards since the incident.

More recently there was a minor accident with other, similar revolving doors at the hospital. They were also upgraded.
