Information technology and facility design can support new models of patient care


Healthcare organizations are using information technology and facility design to support new models of patient care, according to an article in Health Facilities Management magazine.

Three strategies healthcare facilities are using are: 

• shifting care from inpatient to outpatient environments 

• patient-centric, wellness solutions

• the application of hospitality and Lean enterprise concepts and digital modeling to redefine health care operations and redesign facilities

Healthcare providers have developed these strategies out of economic necessity, but as they also have seen improvement in quality, safety and patient satisfaction.
