VoltDB's high velocity database will provide real-time decisioning capability

By Healthcare Facilities Today

BOSTON - VoltDB, the world's fastest high-velocity database today announced that it has entered into a VAR agreement with Q4 Systems Corporation, a leading Social Media, Mobility, Analytics and Cloud Computing (SMAC) solutions provider offering a SaaS based platform for Healthcare and Retail industry verticals.

Q4 Systems selected VoltDB's in-memory database both for its high-speed data ingestion capabilities and its purpose-built architecture for high-velocity Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) applications. In particular, Q4 needed to accommodate the inventory data needs of retail customers facing new velocity data challenges as they increasingly embrace mobile technology. VoltDB will support Q4's RetailSphere and Loss Prevention services, all of which serve retailers with brick-and-mortar and web operations.

"As we continue to innovate SMAC solutions, our customers demand the ability to make very fast decisions on large, fast moving data sets. Q4 needed an operational database to solve these data performance challenges across our retail and telco market segments," said Raghu Bala, CTO of Q4 consulting. "The business demands to accommodate mobile functionality and the necessity of real-time analytics in an environment capable of real-time decisions lead us to select VoltDB."

VoltDB will also support Q4 Systems' solutions and services for investment banking, business intelligence and structured finance. Financial services customers will benefit from VoltDB's real-time visibility and data decisioning capabilities.

"The performance demands of Quadrant 4's SaaS offerings across multiple verticals made VoltDB a great fit," said Bruce Reading, President & CEO for VoltDB. "The scalability challenges faced by Quadrant 4 driven by the demands of mobile functionality across all of their key market segments was the driving factor for the selection of VoltDB."
