When designing a healthcare facility, consideration must be given to the products specified and used in hospital and healthcare design, according to an article on the Architecture & Design website.

The internal walls, floors and ceilings used can play a role in effective infection control. Surfaces that are porous or textured may be difficult to clean.

Wall finishes should be smooth and easily cleaned, where appropriate, water-resistant.

High acoustic performance is also beneficial in addition to impact resistance and hygiene standards.
