Whitman Construction expands solar offering with SunTegra shingles

SunTegra (formerly known as Integrated Solar Technology or IST), a leading provider of integrated solar roof systems, today announced a partnership with Whitman Construction, a New Jersey-based construction company specializing in roofing, siding, windows and solar. Through the partnership, Whitman will be offering the SunTegra Shingle® solar roof system to its customers throughout the region.

“We are thrilled to be working with Whitman because of their reputation and breadth of expertise in full-service roofing and solar services,” said Noah Siegel, SunTegra’s Regional Business Development Manager. “Whitman has built up an impressive solar division over the past few years, particularly gaining experience with other roof-integrated solar solutions like the DOW POWERHOUSE™ solar shingle. We are excited to help them further strengthen their competitive edge with our integrated solar shingle and tile solution.”

Whitman and SunTegra currently have five (5) projects scheduled in Far Hills, Brick, Freehold, Manahawkin, and South Bound Brook, New Jersey, to be installed during the third quarter of 2016.

“Our solar program has become a staple in our offering,” said Chris Poole, Direct of Solar Operations at Whitman Construction. “Solar is important for our communities, our company mission, and of course, for our customers. When homeowners call looking for a roof, we can educate them about what solar shingles can do, and give them the tools they need to determine whether a solar roof is right for them.”

As a full-service roofing and solar contractor, Whitman offers homeowners a complete solution for both roofing and solar needs. The company’s ability to offer a roof-integrated solar shingle puts them in a unique position. Whereas other contractors do strictly roofing or solar, Whitman gives homeowners the ability to combine roofing and solar into one seamless job, saving them money and giving them the superior aesthetics of a roof-integrated solar solution.

SunTegra offers customers a reliable and cost-effective way to seamlessly integrate solar into their roofs. SunTegra shingles use tested crystalline solar technology, found in most conventional solar panels. SunTegra’s solar shingle and solar tile products attach directly to roof decking, or battens, and function both as a solar panel and a roofing material. Both products are UL 1703 certified and carry a Class A fire rating.
