The president of Wuhan Wuchang Hospital in the Hubei province, died Feb. 18 of the coronavirus, according to a round-up of coronavirus news on the Becker's Hospital Review website.
The 51-year-old led the hospital designated for the coronavirus epidemic, accepting thousands of patients every day.
The death toll from coronavirus is more than 2,700 worldwide, with the vast majority in mainland China. There have been more than 80,000 global cases with cases in every continent except Antarctica.
The U.S. government's efforts to isolate and quarantine Americans could temporarily prevent the spread of the disease, but "are not guaranteed to stop further transmissions," according to Ogbonnaya Omenka, PhD, an assistant professor and public health specialist at Indianapolis-based Butler University.
