Zumtobel Lighting, Inc. is investing $10 million for expansion in the Americas


To serve the demand of high quality, next generation LED luminaires and lighting systems, Zumtobel Lighting, Inc. is investing in talent acquisition as well as modernization of its production lines located in the USA.

Highland, New York, August 2015 – Zumtobel Lighting, Inc., a leading supplier of next generation lighting solutions, is investing $10 million USD in advancements and upgrades to its New York production facility and in its US sales and marketing infrastructure. This commitment follows the success of the Highland (NY) based production facility along with expanding growth potential in target markets. Additionally, Zumtobel Lighting, Inc. received a $1.3 million grant from Empire State Development Corporation. Under the terms of the grant, Zumtobel has committed to make improvements to its assembly and distribution facility located at the Highland site.

“Our investment in the development of the American market further demonstrates Zumtobel’s commitment to enhance customer satisfaction, expand its product lines along with manufacturing, assembly and distribution capabilities. The funding by Empire State Development Corporation (ESD) further shows the importance of Zumtobel as a strong and vital US employer in the Hudson Valley region. The collaborative relationship we are developing with the state of New York along with representatives from the various governmental agencies is highly valued by us,” said Zumtobel Lighting, Inc. CEO, Kevin Maddy.

The funds will be utilized for research and development of next generation lighting fixtures, connected lighting solutions, employee training and factory upgrades. One example, the purchase of a state-of-the-art laser cutter which is used in the production of a variety of luminaire parts, will provide more accurate and faster cutting capabilities resulting in faster production of luminaires with better performance and enhanced lighting quality.
