Healthcare facility professionals mark Patient Safety Awareness Week

Patient safety responsibility extends to every department


The Patient Safety Awareness Week earlier this month focused on the many ways hospitals, patients and their families can partner to improve safety throughout the year, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management.

Despite the week's clinical emphasis, healthcare facilities professionals know that the mission to improve patient safety involves their department also.

Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality is conducting a study to measure and improve cleaning and disinfection processes of patient rooms. 

Other ways to improve patient safety include ensuring adequate emergency power systems and stopping the spread of infectious diseases through proper planning, the article said
