Cutting risk of water-borne infections

The American Society for Healthcare Engineering suggests 10 steps to combat Legionella and other pathogens

The American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) has suggested 10 steps to combat Legionella and other pathogens in healthcare facilities, according to an article on the HC Pro website.

ASHE's document calls for a coolheaded and systematic approach.

“Without proper guidance, hospitals may take steps that are not required, steps that may be unnecessarily costly; or steps that are not helpful in reducing the threat from legionellosis and other waterborne pathogens,” according to the document, which is available for download from ASHE’s website.

The 10 steps  align with the requirements of ASHRAE Standard 188 and place an emphasis on effective risk management.
