The Beaver Dam Community Hospital Cafe in Beaver Dam, Wis., has been designated as a Blue Zones Project-approved restaurant, according to an article on the Daily Citizen website.
The Blue Zones Project is a community-led well-being improvement initiative designed to make healthier choices easier by encouraging simple changes to environment, policy and social networks.
“These changes that we have made have given us the ability to meet the nutritional needs and desires of not only our health-conscious employees but also the patients and patients’ families that visit us,” said Jim Feil, director of food service at BDCH Cafe.
The cafe is also open to the public and uses fresh ingredients, some being sourced from the facility's own organic gardens.
