Medical staff at the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center in Altoona say they're afraid for their safety, and that they've become ill from fumes in the Physical Medicine Rehabilitation gym, according to an article on the WJAC website.
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) chapter at the veterans' hospital, and represents hospital employees has filed multiple complaints with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
The union is linking the four incidents have the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to a renovation project on the floor above the affected area.
The complaints reference chemical spills of xyol xylene, exposure to other fumes, falling ceiling tiles and a glue spill.
