Antiseptic manufacturers help make sense of FDA rules

The American Cleaning Institute will help infection control experts understand the pending Food and Drug Administration (FDA) decision concerning some active ingredients used in healthcare antiseptics, according to an article on the Infection Control Today website.

A team of experts will speak at the 2017 Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) annual meeting in Portland. 

The FDA is establishing a new healthcare antiseptic monograph to regulate the use of most antiseptic hand hygiene agents in healthcare settings, including antibacterial soaps hand sanitizers and pre-operative scrubs.

The pending decisions may significantly impact product availability.
