The new Jacobs Medical Center in LaJolla, Calif., was designed for comfort, offering advanced imaging and surgical technologies in a calming setting, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.
Most rooms at the $943 million, 509,500-square-foot facility feature floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of San Diego, the mountains and ocean.
Patients can control the room’s environment, such as lighting and temperature, and entertainment on TV, with a mobile device.
The Jacobs Healing Arts Collection — including more than 150 individual pieces, including paintings, sculptures and digital photographs — is exhibited throughout the hospital.
