Delhi hospitals cited for inadequate fire-safety measures

Problems were primarily with non-functioning fire fighting systems

The Indian Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reported that government hospitals in Delhi have inadequate fire-safety measures and other deficiencies, according to an article on the Business Standard website.

The shortcomings were primarily non-functioning fire-fighting systems such as fire pumps, detection system, sprinkler system, fire extinguishers, exit signs and required pathways, ramps and fire-check doors, the article said.

The underground water tanks were found empty in Dr B R Sur Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. The tanks were not cleaned regularly in Guru Nanak Eye Centre and G B Pant Hospital and used for drinking purpose in GTB Hospital and Guru Nanak Eye Centre.
