Association for the Healthcare Environment announces 2015 elected and appointed board members


The Association for the Healthcare Environment (AHE) has announced Greg May, CHESP as the 2014 AHE board president. May is the director of environmental services, linen and sustainability at UC Sand Diego Health System in San Diego. He has more than 35 years of healthcare experience in environmental services, environmental health and safety, emergency preparedness, planning and response, linen and laundry and contracting.

Elected to at-large seats for the 2015-2017 term are:

Lisa Ford, CHESP

Environmental services director and general manager for Lourdes Health System, Camden, N.J. She has 23 years of environmental services experience and has served as a board member for two and a half years. Ford also has served on the AHE recognition committee and has been a speaker and presenter at numerous AHE events including AHE Exchange 2014, and AHE Engage 2013 – Emergency Management.

Pam Toppel, CHESP  

Director of support service at OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center un Pontiac, Ill., has experience in facility operations overseeing environmental services, supply chain and linen. Toppel has served on numerous committees and task forces as a member of AHE including as chair of the product review committee, safety committee and infection control committee. 

Appointed industry liaison with the approval of the board, was

J. Hudson Garrett

Vice president of clinical affairs for PDI, Garrett has more than 10 years of experience in infection prevention and control and epidemiology. He holds a doctorate in healthcare administration and policy, a post masters as a family nurse practitioner and infection preventionist and dual master's degrees in nursing and public health. Garrett serves as chairperson of the AHE Research Committee. He is a graduate of the John Hopkins Fellows Program for Infection Prevention and Epidemiology.

New board member terms begin Jan. 1, 2015.
