Healthcare architects must design facilities that meet privacy controls, but are still safe and allow for observation by staff, according to an article on the Healthcare Construction + Operations website.

It is important to safeguard a patient’s physical privacy during exams, consultations and hospital stays. 

Exam rooms and other patient-sensitive areas need to be adjustable to balance staff monitoring with auditory and visual privacy.

Designing patient spaces for optimal fire safety is also essential. However, this can be challenging in areas requiring adjustable patient privacy.
