Healthcare facilities' tactics include large-scale drills


Boston hospitals have measures in place to prepare for mass tragedies, including large-scale drills and tutorials for civilians, according to an article on the Boston Herald website.

Mass. General uses a computer emergency alert system that automatically pages hundreds of hospital employees who can move existing patients to make room for more.

Tufts Medical Center runs tests each morning and afternoon to make sure its disaster radio is working properly.

Tufts also has bimonthly drills that bring in actors to simulate a large-scale disaster.
