Observation tools created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) have recently been released, according to an article on the Health Facilities Management website.
The new tools were designed to help with infection-prevention assessments of specific settings, including vaccine storage areas.
Pilot programs for the tools were conducted at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville; Summit Health’s Chambersburg Hospital in Chambersburg, Pa., and Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown
The pilot programs included ready-to-use assessment cards to touch on various factors of infection prevention in a given space.
