CMS to Resume Routine Nursing Home Inspections

Onsite revisit surveys, non-immediate jeopardy complaint surveys and annual recertification surveys will resume


The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will resume routine inspections for all Medicare- and Medicaid-certified providers and suppliers, after suspending them due to COVID, according to an article on the Skilled Nursing News website.

Onsite revisit surveys, non-immediate jeopardy complaint surveys and annual recertification surveys will resume as soon as resources are available.

In March, CMS ordered its state and regional surveyors to suspend “non-emergency" inspections across the country to allow inspectors to focus on infectious diseases and abuse, according to an article. on the HCPro website.

CMS locations were directed to suspend all enforcement actions except for unremoved Immediate Jeopardy citations.
