Community health center planned for South Dakota

New Rapid City facility to combine services from three present locations

Construction has begun on a $6.7 million, 28,000-square-foot facility for the Community Health Center that will offer people in the Rapid City (S.D) region more convenient access affordable healthcare, according to an article on the Rapidly City Journal.

The new building will consolidate services of three medical and dental clinics in the region.

"This building is long overdue," said Ron Reed, president of the Community Health Center of the Black Hills Board of Directors. "The staff has been squeezed into their existing spaces for years. This is going to allow us to grow to meet the community’s healthcare needs for years to come."

The new facility will allow patients to coordinate their healthcare needs and enable the center to take on more patients, according to the article. The CHC will own this facility, after renting space at its three current sites.

The new facility will have X-ray facilities, an on-site laboratory and a pharmacy. It's set to be completed in October 2015.

The CHC provides health services to anyone, but its aim is to provide affordable health and dental services for uninsured or under-insured people in the community.
