Florida healthcare facility expanding after two years

Tradition Medical Center in Stuart was designed to be flexible and expandable

Tradition Medical Center in Stuart, Fla., was designed to be flexible and expandable. Less than two years after the facility's opening, Martin Health Systems decided to take advantage of that option, according to an article on the Healthcare Construction + Operations website.

Construction on Phase II began on Oct. 21. The expansion will include the addition of 170,000 square feet and three stories.

When the facility is complete, it will have nine stories and 90 new patient rooms.

To make for a more efficient vertical expansion, the mechanical mezzanine is located on the third floor instead of the roof.
