Giant Therapy Dog Brings Smiles, Infection Concerns To Ohio Healthcare Facility

Pandemic paused the project for safety reasons


Pet therapy brings smiles to the patients and staff at Dayton Children’s Hospital, but when the pandemic started, the facility had to put a pause on the project for safety reasons, according to an article on the WDTN website.

Recently, Dayton Children’s is the first hospital in the area to restart their pet therapy program.

Cassius Clay Maurice Trice is a Great Dane who is the biggest dog in the pet therapy program. He wears putting on his orange vest and sits with patients.

Cassius, or Cash, enjoys his time with patients to help alleviate their stress during long stays., according to his owner.

Members of Akron Children’s Hospital Doggie Brigade not only bring comfort to patients, but also help out with security according to an Akron Beacon Journal article.

Most of their days are spent helping children, the rest of the time they have ongoing training for bomb detection.
