Healthcare facility hacking increasing during coronavirus pandemic

IBM reported a 6,000 percent increase in spam attacks


Hacking attempts are a daily occurrence at America's hospitals, according to an article on the USA Today website.

And the situation has gotten worse during the coronavirus pandemic, as more employees switched to working from home.

Between March and April, IBM reported a 6,000 percent increase in spam attacks on information technology systems, leveraging COVID-19, many of them at healthcare facilities. 

Seattle Children’s, for instance, saw a doubling of attempted hacking attacks in March, specifically phishing emails.
