Nowhere is the lack of information security professionals more pressing than in the medical industry, according to an article on the Threat Post website.
Three-quarters of healthcare delivery organizations lack a single qualified security person on staff, the article said.
“There’s no one there to apply patches, receive threat intelligence, or respond to emergencies,” Josh Corman of the Atlantic Council, an international affairs think tank, said. “It’s basically nurses and medical technicians. There’s no one there.”
Part of the challenge is that while there is much focus on securing patient data, there's relatively little attention paid to medical device security.
