Hospital security boosted after nurses express fears following attacks

Australia's Westmead Hospital reacts to reports of violent crimes near the facility

Australia's Westmead Hospital is boosting security measures in response to reports of violent crimes near the facility, according to an article on the Daily Telegraph website.

A 25-year-old nurse was recently threatened by a man with a knife during an attempted carjacking when she stopped her car at traffic lights near the hospital.

“We are providing a security minibus service between 7pm-11pm daily to escort staff to their car parked near the hospital, closest public transport, staff accommodation complex, Cumberland Hospital or other locations in the near vicinity of the hospital,” said Westmead's general manager Andrew Newton.

Shiftworkers at Westmead were urged to follow the security advice that has been given and use the services provided.
