Hospitals seek new products, ideas to prevent pressure ulcers

Some new products may come to the aid of hospitals looking for ways to reduce the occurrences of healthcare-acquired infections and related issues.

Healthcare providers continue to face reduced reimbursements for healthcare-acquired infections and related issues. In some instances, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services may even assess a financial penalty to hospitals who fail to properly prevent issues such as pressure ulcers. 

In a February 2013 article, Healthcare Purchasing News looks at the ways hospitals are working to reduce the occurrences of pressure ulcers in patients. The article discusses some of the new products available to aid in prevention, including operating table pads, patient beds, therapeutic linens and wound dressings.
