Too often, infection prevention professionals don't realize that improperly laundered healthcare linens can pose a risk, according to an article on the Infection Control Today website.

The Healthcare Laundry Accreditation Council (HLAC), recently exhibited at the annual conference of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). 

At the APIC event, HLAC learned that some infection prevention professionals are not making the connection that improperly laundered healthcare textiles can be a vehicle for the transfer of pathogens to patients and hospital workers. 

HLAC is a nonprofit organization that inspects and accredits laundries that process reusable HCTs for hospitals, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities.
