Kentucky facilities open 'Operation Snow Command Centers'

The nature of the work demands that those in patient care must be there

For those in the healthcare field, there's no question of taking a snow day, because the nature of the work demands that those in patient care be there, according to an article on the Louisville Business Journal.

KentuckyOne Health Inc., which operates Jewish Hospital in Louisville and several others around the state, opened what it called "Operation Snow Command Centers" at its facilities to address the weather problems.

Baptist Healthcare System Inc., operator of Baptist Health Louisville, has inclement-weather staffing policies that call on employees to plan in advance to find safe transportation.

If employees think they can't make it to work, hospital officials may provide accommodations and ask them to stay over if they're already there. If need be, the system will deploy volunteer drivers to bring employees to work.
