Kindred Rehabilitation Services announced plans to build and operate a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Jacksonville.

“The aging of our population brings a growing need for rehabilitation services that help individuals recover from injury or illness and return home more independent and more capable of performing the normal activities of daily living,” says Russ Bailey, president of Kindred Rehabilitation Services. “We are excited to expand access to this type of care to Jacksonville-area residents through the creation of this state-of-the-art, standalone hospital. We believe this facility and our skilled, compassionate caregivers will deliver the hope, healing and recovery that patients need, and in the process, help create a healthier community.”

The new hospital will have all private rooms and focus on acute rehabilitation for patients who suffer from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, multiple trauma, amputation and other injuries or disorders. The rehabilitation facility will also feature multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums outfitted with therapeutic technologies, including augmented-reality balance training, therapy bionics and a full-body exoskeleton. It also will include a therapeutic courtyard with exterior amenities to support patient care and help patients return to daily living activities.

The hospital is expected to open in 2023. Upon completion, it will be Kindred Rehabilitation Services’ fourth inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Florida.
